Denver Moving Companies: Road Scholars Moving & Storage

Choosing Denver movers, that you can entrust to move all of your worldly belongings, is not easy. This is why we have compiled this list, to help you through this process. During this difficult economic period, the rise in rogue movers has multiplied. Therefore, careful and thorough research for selecting reputable Denver Movers is even more important!

  • As required by law, all Denver moving companies must display their Colorado P.U.C. license number (or HHG #) and all Interstate Movers, must display their I.C.C. number; in any advertising, including their website.  If they do not display these numbers, they may not be licensed to legally operate a Moving Company.  Avoid contacting any Colorado Movers that do not show these numbers.  Our HHG number is: 00107. Any mover, who operates within the state of Colorado, must carry a household goods moving license, issued by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. See If Your Denver mover Is licensed call: (303) 894-2000 or at: http://www.dora.state.co.us/pls/real/PUC_Permit.Search_Form.
  • Obtain a certificate of insurance, from the Denver movers you have selected, this way you can see the carrier's limits for: workmen's compensation, property and cargo insurance.  If the Denver mover that you select, uses subcontractors instead of employing their own movers, there may be no workmen's compensation coverage.  This means, that if the carrier's employee is injured on your property, the claim will be filed with your home owner's insurance.  During these economically difficult times, some Denver moving companies will cut corners by only carrying the minimum required insurance, as per the state.  By doing this, claims can fall on you. Road Scholars maintains full coverage Workmen's Compensation Insurance.
  • Contact the Denver/Boulder Better Business Bureau.  They assign an "A" through "F" scoring system, to all movers in Denver and Boulder.  They also track if a mover has government actions against them.  Unlike many referral services, they stay completely impartial.  They list both members and/or non-members and monitor a carrier's performance, regardless of paid membership!  Denver Movers - A+ Rated .
  • Ask friends, neighbors, co-workers or relatives for recommendations for Denver Movers.  Our repeat and referral business is over 65%!  We work with many realtors and home builders within the Denver Metro area, as well as fantastic customers who refer us to their friends and family.
  • While obtaining phone quotes or in-home estimates be consistent with all Denver Movers you confer with, this way you can compare "apples to apples".  Full disclosure and being very detailed, is the best way to get an accurate quote.  Tell them if any items are to be excluded, if there are any special services you require and inform them of difficult access (e.g., stairs, narrow driveways, size of elevators, etc.).
  • Make sure that you ask the Denver moving companies you are interviewing, about all of their charges.  Some may charge for moving services that should be included, such as: disassembly and reassembly of your furniture; providing moving pads, shrink wrap, wardrobes or other moving equipment; elevator or stair fees; and many other potential "hidden fees".  Road Scholars Moving & Storage discloses all charges upfront and we do not charge extra for any aforementioned moving services.  In fact, we provide many extras at no additional charge!
  • When choosing a mover, do not make price the only deciding factor.  Low-ball bids, may produce a less than desirable outcome or indicate unethical business practices! Please keep in mind, that Denver Moving Companies do not typically require a deposit for Local Moves.  If your mover is attempting to take a deposit, this may be a ploy or a sign of trouble.  Use a reputable moving company that does not require deposits.
